QUCARE® VET Test Strip

QUCARE® VET Blood Urea Nitrogen test strip

*Blood urea nitrogen(BUN) is a medical test that measures the amount of urea nitrogen found in blood. The liver produces urea in the urea cycle as a waste product of the digestion of protein.

QUCARE® VET Creatinine test strip

*Creatinine synthesis primarily occurs in the liver and kidneys. Creatine is a nitrogenous organic acid that occurs naturally in vertebrates. It’s main role is to facilitate recycling of adenosine triphosphate(ATP), the energy currency of the cell, primarily in muscle and brain tissue. This is achieved by recycling adenosine diphosphate(ADP) to ATP via donation of phosphate groups.

QUCARE® VET ALT test strip

*ALT(Alanine aminotrnsferase is an enzyme found mostly in the cells of the liver and kidney. Much smaller amounts of it are also found in the heart and muscles. The function of ALT is to convert alanine, an amino acid found in proteins, into pyruvate, an important intermediate in cellular energy production.

QUCARE® VET AST test strip

*AST(Aspartate aminotransferase) is an enzyme found in cells throughout the body but mostly in the heart and liver and, to a lesser extent, in the kidneys and muscles. In healthy individuals, levels of AST in the blood are low. When liver or muscle cells are injured, they release AST into the blood.

QUCARE® VET Blood Glucose test strip

* Blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose present in the blood of animals. The body tightly regulates blood glucose levels as a part of metabolic homeostasis. Glucose is stored in skeletal muscle and live cells in the form of glycogen in fasted individuals, blood glucose is maintained at a constant level at the expense of glycogen stores in the liver and skeletal muscle.

QUCARE® VET β-ketone test strip

*Beta –hydroxybutyric acid is able to cross the blood-brain-barrier into the central nervous system. Beta –hydroxybutyric acid’s concentration, as with other ketone bodies, is raised in ketosis. Diabetic patients can have their ketone level tested via blood indicate diabetic ketoacidosis.

QUCARE® VET Blood Total Cholesterol test strip

*TC increased values may indicate a variety of metabolic disturbances including diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism. Cholesterol is the most commonly occurring steroid. It is an important precursor of cholesterol esters, bile acids and steroid hormones. It is derived from dietary sources and synthesized in vivo from acetyl-CoA in the liver (main site) and other tissues (intestines, adrenal glands and reproductive organs). Measurement of cholesterol can give an indication of hepatic function, gastrointestinal disease, and metabolic disorders. Cholesterol occurs in blood as part of all lipoproteins, but low density (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) fractions have the highest concentrations. LDLs are formed from very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) by endothelial lipoprotein lipase. They are responsible for transporting cholesterol to peripheral tissues, by binding to LDL receptors on these tissues, e.g. adrenal glands, ovary and testes.

QUCARE® VET Blood Lactate test strip

*Blood lactate test works by measuring the amount of lactic acid present in the blood Lactic acid levels get higher when strenuous exercise of other conditions-such as heart failure, a severe infection(sepsis), of shock-lower the flow of blood and oxygen throughout the body. Lactic acid levels can also get higher when the liver is severely damaged or diseased, because the liver normally breaks down lactic acid.
